Active food banks collect and distribute tens of thousands of tons of food products and support the work of institutions in Portugal throughout the year. In turn, these institutions distribute prepared meals and food baskets to people in proven need, with the total number of people receiving assistance now exceeding 390,000. The Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger coordinates this effort, supports the network by providing information and material resources, represents the Food Banks Against Hunger before public authorities, national companies, and international organizations, and distributes certain donations nationwide, creating a vast chain of solidarity.
